Pingls AKA Hot Café Revue

An original music-and-dance comedy combining the live music of the ORCHESTRA with the non-verbal physical theatre of Lindo, hop! Under the artistic direction of M. Pacek, the show transports you to a stylish 1920s café and gradually transforms it into a lively dance hall. Expect authentic early American jazz, tap dance and movement theatre, seasoned with subtle drama and sharp humour. The evening begins with 50 minutes of non-verbal theatre, naturally followed by a live concert and a 1920s-style dance party.

 

Why did we decide to bring physical theatre and early jazz together? The music of the 1920s inspires us with its dance, joy, rawness, entertainment, theatricality, beauty, experimentation and wild spirit. The performance features comic sketches inspired by silent-film slapstick, exploring timeless themes: men and women, love triangles, individuality, the search for intimacy, awkward moments, the need to belong, loneliness and unfulfilled desires, dreams versus reality, expectations versus disappointment. And all of this takes place in a café — a place seemingly made for calm, while beneath the surface, everything is bubbling.
